Popular Boating Areas Near Seattle
Lake Union is the perfect place to take a boat for the day. Lake Union flows into the much larger Lake Washington, where you’ll find ski and wakeboard boats and all manner of boating activities, plus spectacular views of Mount Rainier. Or, bring a sailboat to the weekly Duck Dodge party, held every Tuesday evening from May through August. The lake is home to year-round fishing, including coastal cutthroat trout, largemouth bass, yellow perch, and black crappie. Fishing is also plentiful to the west in Puget Sound, and many other local bodies of water.
Popular Camping Areas Near Seattle
If you want to get out of the city and into the woods, there are adventures to be had in every direction. Try taking a hike out on the Cedar River Trail or Evans Creek Preserve. Or, visit one of the area’s many national and state parks, such as Squak Mountain State Park, where you’ll find over 13 miles of trails and plenty of wildlife viewing opportunities. Cougar Mountain State Wildland Park is another great place for hiking, with many trails to choose from.
For campers, there are plenty of RV campsites in the area. Rent an RV in Seattle and head north to Mt. Baker for hiking or skiing, or head east for Stevens Pass for incredible RV camping and fun all year long. The Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges also offer an abundance of activities, including hiking, fishing, horseback riding and mountain biking.
