POPULAR BOATING AREAS NEAR DALLAS
The Dallas/Fort Worth area is home to incredible boating hot spots like Lake Texoma, the largest lake in Texas and one of the largest reservoirs in the nation. Located on the Texas-Oklahoma border, it’s about an hour north of the Dallas metro area and the perfect place to put a rental boat on the water on a hot day. Seasoned fisherman will appreciate Lake Texoma for its fishing—the lake is home to at least 70 species of fish and offers some of the best striped bass fishing in the world. Boaters can also jet out to one of the islands for the day; take your pick from North Island (best for adults only), or the more intimate and family-friendly Wood Island or Treasure Island.
Recreation at Lake Texoma also includes two wildlife refuges, two state parks and 54 USACE-managed parks, 12 marinas, 26 resorts, hundreds of campgrounds (more on these below), and a variety of golf courses. If you’re into power boating, sailing, jet skiing, water skiing, and windsurfing, this is the place to take your boat rental in Dallas.
Next on the list of popular boating spots near Dallas is Lake Lewisville, where you can take your rental boat out and enjoy plenty of fishing, swimming, water skiing or even a peaceful picnic on one of the beaches along the lakeshore. One of the more popular locations on the lake is Party Cove, where the name says it all—locals go here to hang out and party on the water. If fishing on Lake Lewisville is more your thing, whitefish, crappie, and white bass are just a few of the fish found in large numbers in Lake Lewisville. As your day on the lake winds down, many lakefront restaurants offer dinner and beautiful sunset views.
